Description: On "Waiting on the Harvest", The Kind achieves a more straight-up rock n' roll ground while still managing to let their reggae and ska influences shine through.
Biography: The Kind is an all-original, rock n roll band formed in 1992 in Miami, FL. They are powerful, full of energy and extremely dynamic. Their music is eclectic, which encompasses its roots from: funk, ska, country, reggae, blues and jazz. The sound is unique and portrays a synergetic style comparable to none. Their current release, Waiting on the Harvest continues where their debut, Plant the Seed, left off; sowing a garden of songs together with such skill and poise that it fulfills all the nutrients required for a fresh, blossoming act. The Kind performs with nothing less than intense energy making their presence overwhelmingly known.Heres what the critics have said about The Kinds debut release, Plant the Seed:

Variety, diversity, eclecticism are a few words that come to mind when listening to The Kind. At times provocative, riveting and vigorous their music will keep you focused. The changes that are traversed are often quick and unassuming, yet very interesting. The promise of an exciting future will have you coming back to see how this group has developed further in the unyielding realm of musical diverseness. (MuzikMan.com)

An inspired collection of ska, reggae, R&B and rock n roll. Fronted by guitarist Richard Lebos and bass player Leo Nobre, The Kind deftly handle a number of stylistic twists and turns, allowing the CD a rich, organic and, at times, psychedelic feel. - (City Link, Ft. Lauderdale)

Plant the Seed, the debut CD from The Kind, is musical chaos perfectly suited to a group that can light up things with urgent funkiness (the brilliant Changed My Life), red-eyed barroom innuendo (Sloppy Love), or unpretentious intelligence (the Jaco Pastorius-inspired Breather). (New Times, Miami)

It's really refreshing to find a group that has such a diverse mix of sounds and uses them so effectively. Strange and alluring, I find myself like a confused puppy, my head is turned sideways, ears forward, trying to figure out just exactly what I am listening to. Every time it starts over I hear new sounds that I didnt catch the first four times through, all I can say is wowzers. The lead singer reminds me of some early Bowie. The rest of the band is completely in tune with each other in the sense that they must have made this for a reason and knew what this song was going to be (what I am getting at is they are tight).
